Taurus is the beginning of the element Earth. Earth gives to Taurus a worldly attitude which is one of the peculiarities of this sign. Taurus loves food and pleasures and, in its lower levels, this love can become an obsession.

Sepher Yetzirah description of Taurus is: “He made the letter Vav king over thought, and He bound a crown to it, and He combined one with another, and with them He formed Taurus in the Universe, Iyar in the Year, and the right kidney in the Soul male and female.”, hermetic as usual.

In order to better understand Taurus, you should concentrate on the shape of the letter ו, the pillar, the descent of Heaven to Earth. Vav resembles a standing man solid as a pillar. In fact solidity and persistance are two important traits of Taurus’ personality. Basically, what the Book of Formation says is that if Taurus learns to reflect and control its drives may become a symbol thanks to its perseverance.
