From Scorpion to Eagle

Important Note: to better understand the contents of this page, I recommend you to read first the page about Sepher Yetzirah and watch its video.

Scorpio is the 2nd sign of the element Water. Scorpio and Libra are extremely connected in Kabbalah. They are associated with the tribes of Manasseh and Ephraim, the only 2 tribes of Israel not related to Jacob’s sons but to 2 of his grandsons (sons of Joseph). The Tribes of Israel are a very important aspect of the Kabbalistic symbology and I will talk about them in a dedicated section. For now, it is important to understand which is the connection between Libra and Scorpio, Air and Water.

Let me try to make it simple.

Joseph is the patriarch linked to Yesod, the 9th Sephira. Yesod is the starting point of the rising through the Middle Way as seen here. Joseph’s 2 sons, Ephraim and Manasseh, are associated to Libra (Ephraim) and Scorpio (Manasseh). Libra is ל and Scorpio is נ, Lamed goes up into the air whereas Nun is bent on itself. Having said that, we understand that from Yesod thanks to the union between the Air of Libra and the Water of Scorpio, the upward streaming can be achieved.

The union between the light personality of Libra and the deep one of Scorpio generates the Fallen Master, the Ba’al Teshuvà (Master of Return).

What Sepher Yetzirah says about Scorpio is: “He made the letter Nun king over smell, and He bound a crown to it, and He combined one with another, and with them He formed Scorpio in the Universe, Cheshvan in the Year, and the small intestine in the Soul male and female.”.

NunScorpio is definitely visceral. Everything in Scorpio happens deep inside, in the viscera. The others may only be able to feel an echo of what is really happening. Libra pays always attention to the exteriority. Scorpio looks always at the interiority.

The video explains Scorpio’s 3 levels and their relation with the Nun, the sense and the body part.
